The 2025 version has been published for the SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR), which assesses academic and research-related institutions based on three different sets of indicators; i.e., research performance, innovation outputs and societal impact measured by their web visibility. Istanbul Medeniyet University (IMU) ranks 37th in this year’s list containing 144 institutions from Türkiye by going up 9 places compared to last year, while ranking 25th among the public universities in our country. In the Ranking based on Scopus data, our University ranks 21st in Research among the universities in Türkiye. In addition, it rose 536 places compared to last year in the global Innovation ranking.
In addition to the overall rankings, SCImago Institutions Rankings 2025 also assessed the scientific performance of universities in 19 different subject areas. In these rankings by subject areas, IMU has made impressive achievements and risen to a leading position in certain areas among global and national universities. In the ranking list by subject areas, IMU is ranked the 1st in Economics, Econometrics and Finance among the universities in Türkiye and 244th globally, while in Environmental Science, it is ranked 2nd in Türkiye and 426th in the world. Among the other fields in which it ranked in the top 10 in our country, IMU ranked in 8th in Business, Management and Accounting and 10th in Energy.
Some other significant positions that IMU has attained in Türkiye in this year’s ranking include the 21st position in Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology; the 25th in Chemistry; the 31st in Medicine; and the 33rd in Social Sciences.
