The talk titled “Turkish Engineering in Our New Century”, organized by Istanbul Medeniyet University New Generation Student Club and attended by Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAŞ) former General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil as a speaker, was held on December 18, 2024.
Our Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Yaşar Bülbül, Prof. Dr. Nuriye Akbay, academicians and students attended the event held in our central library.
The event began with the opening speech of our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yaşar Bülbül. Stating that Turkish engineering has gained significant momentum in recent years, Bülbül drew attention to the fact that these developments could contribute to the establishment of a more just and prosperous order worldwide. Stating that the technology produced by the West sometimes leads to consequences such as oppression and injustice, Bülbül stated that Muslim engineers should develop projects that will benefit humanity under the leadership of Türkiye.
Following the opening speeches of our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yaşar Bülbül, former TUSAŞ General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil gave a talk titled “Turkish Engineering in Our New Century”.
Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil discussed in detail the achievements of Turkish engineering in recent years, especially in the field of aviation and space industry. Drawing attention to the importance of projects carried out to strengthen Turkey's technological independence, Kotil stated that the development of domestic and national technologies contributes to our country's becoming stronger in the global arena.
Kotil provided suggestions to guide young engineering candidates in his speech that proceeded in an interactive environment with the participants, and emphasized the importance of working with innovation and determination in the engineering discipline. Stating that the implementation of projects that benefit humanity under Turkey's leadership will bring prosperity and peace to the entire world, Kotil drew an inspiring vision for the participants about the future of Turkish engineering.
After the talk, Kotil answered the questions of the participants and shared his experiences, shedding light on the career journeys of the youth. The event, which was a mind-opening vocational training especially for the students of our Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, ended with a group photo taken in memory of the day.
