The 4th Student Works Exhibition, organized this year by our Department of Elementary Mathematics Education, was held on May 13, 2026, at Block B of the North Campus with a high turnout.

In his opening remarks, Dean Prof. Dr. Eyüp Sevimli emphasized the importance of equipping prospective teachers not only with subject knowledge but also with creativity, an aesthetic perspective, and pedagogical competence. He added that the gamified activities, concrete materials, and interactive applications featured in the exhibition would increase students’ interest in mathematics. Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Kılıç, Chair of the Elementary Mathematics Education Department, highlighted the necessity of a student-centered learning approach, noting that the works featured in the exhibition demonstrate the teacher candidates’ professional development, creativity, and perspectives on mathematics education.

The event, which showcased the creative, original, and inspiring works students prepared in their classes throughout the semester, was followed with great interest by academics, teachers, and students. Eight math teachers from Kadıköy Kazım Karabekir Middle School, Sezai Karakoç Middle School, Faik Reşit Unat Middle School, and Üsküdar Atatürk Middle School toured the exhibition with approximately 200 of their students. In particular, the visiting students had the opportunity to see and experience the fun and exploratory aspects of math through the materials on display.

Open to visitors from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the exhibition featured materials for mathematics instruction, games, activity designs, and technology-supported applications. The projects, in which student teachers combined their theoretical knowledge with practical application, were highly praised by visitors.
