The exhibition for the "Small Hands: Ebru and Photography Workshop" project, organized by second-year Early Childhood Education students Yasemin Çörtük, Sude Bülbül Karakaş, and Nihat Çetin from the Department of Basic Education at the Faculty of Educational Sciences at Istanbul Medeniyet University; was held with the participation of our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yaşar Bülbül, Head of the Department of Early Childhood Education Prof. Dr. Zarife Seçer, Research Assistant Hacer Sümeyra Bilici Albayrak, students from Medeniyet Kindergarten, and their families.
During the event, the children were introduced to ebru, a traditional Turkish art form. The session began with a question-and-answer session, during which the children discussed colors, water, and patterns. Subsequently, the children created their own unique patterns by dripping paint onto water and transferred their work onto paper.
Throughout the project, the children’s active participation in the event was encouraged, and photographs of their work were taken. Workshops were organized during the event to support the children’s creativity, attention, and hand-eye coordination skills.
The resulting works were exhibited on the ground floor of the Istanbul Medeniyet University Ziraat Bank Library. The project, which contributed to the development of the children’s artistic expression skills, was carried out with the aim of raising awareness of traditional arts and supporting the children’s social interaction skills. The project concluded after the children shared their thoughts on the event at the exhibition.
