Organized by Istanbul Medeniyet University Teknofest Club, the talk titled “National Space Program” was held with the participation of Tuva Cihangir Atasever, who contributed to the National Space Program and became Turkey's second astronaut. The event offered an important information sharing environment on space technologies and Turkey's future in the field of space.
Rector Prof. Dr. Gülfettin Çelik, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yaşar Bülbül, Deputy Secretary General Ali Polat, academicians and students attended the program held in our central library.
The event, which attracted great interest, started with the opening speeches of our Rector Prof. Dr. Gülfettin Çelik. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Gülfettin Çelik stated that space studies should not be limited to a specific sector and said, “Space is not a field that can be limited to only one sector. If there is to be a presence in space, this process must be handled in all aspects. Istanbul Medeniyet University also acts with this awareness and is on its way to contribute to the studies in the field of space.” Our Rector stated that the university strives to maintain its vision in this field and thanked everyone who participated in the event.
Following the speeches of Rector Prof. Dr. Gülfettin Çelik, the guest of the interview, Tuva Cihangir Atasever, gave a comprehensive presentation on Turkey's goals in the field of space and the strategies of the National Space Program. Atasever provided important information to the participants by detailing the main goals of Turkey's space program, the methods and strategic priorities to achieve these goals. He also emphasized Turkey's future role in space, international collaborations and how achievements in space will contribute to the national economy, scientific developments and technological advancements. Participants had the opportunity to gain in-depth information on the scope, current status and future goals of Turkey's space projects.
