Psychology Club, one of the student clubs of Istanbul Medeniyet University, organized a conference titled “Modern Neuroscience Research Tools and Neuropsychological Assessment” in order to increase the mental health awareness of our students and staff and especially to contribute to the professional development of our Psychology Department students. The speaker of the event held on December 17, 2024 at the Hasan Polatkan Conference Hall of the Central Library was Asst. Prof. Dr. Erol Yıldırım, faculty member of Medipol University Psychology Department and founder of fiNCAN Lab.

In his presentation, Yıldırım comprehensively addressed the cognitive and neuropsychological development processes from the beginning of psychology to the present day. Historical periods of psychology, the mind-brain relationship, neuropsychological assessment methods and modern neuroscience research tools were discussed in detail. He also drew attention to the differences between cognitive neuropsychology and neuropsychology and conveyed the historical developments of these fields to the audience.

The conference contributed to the understanding of innovative approaches in the field, especially for students interested in neuropsychology. While participants learned how to use modern neuroscience tools, they gained concrete information about the applications of these methods in the fields of clinical neuropsychology and cognitive neuroscience. In addition, detailed information was provided on neuropsychological assessment processes and the role of these processes in understanding the cognitive and behavioral states of individuals, and students had the opportunity to approach education and career opportunities in the field of neuropsychology more consciously.

An interactive environment was created with the question and answer session at the end of the event. In this way, positive contributions were made to the mental health awareness and psychological well-being of the participants and a free vocational training opportunity was provided that especially contributed to the career development of psychology students.
