The “Economics and Financial Literacy Project for High School Students,” implemented in collaboration with the Üsküdar District Governor’s Office, the Üsküdar District Directorate of National Education, and Istanbul Medeniyet University, has been successfully completed. The project was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Kalkavan, a faculty member in the Department of Economics at our University’s Faculty of Political Sciences.

As part of the project, which took place between January and April 2026, seminars on economic and financial literacy were held at various high schools in Üsküdar. The sessions were led by faculty members from the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Political Sciences, Istanbul Medeniyet University.

During the seminars, students had the opportunity to learn about fundamental topics such as inflation, unemployment, budget management, savings, investment, financial decision-making processes, and the impact of the economy on daily life. Aimed at helping young people evaluate economic developments more consciously, the program also provided significant benefits in terms of increasing their financial awareness and helping them identify academic and professional opportunities in the fields of economics and finance.

The project, which drew significant interest from students, contributed to strengthening collaboration between the university and secondary schools, and was successfully completed as a model initiative aimed at enhancing young people’s knowledge and awareness within the framework of social responsibility.
