Prof. Ahmet Cihan
Having worked in Istanbul, Dicle, and Nevşehir Universities, Prof. Ahmet Cihan has been a faculty member in the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts & Humanities at IMU since 2011.
Some of the works Prof. Cihan authored include Osmanlı Toplum Yapısı ve Sivil Toplum, Ahmet Cevdet Paşa'nın Aile Mektupları, Gelenek İle Modernite Arasında Kırgızistan, Farklı Yüzler ve Renkler Kenti Diyarbakır, and Mağdurun Hikâyesi. Since 10 December 2014, he has been serving at IMU as the Vice-Rector in charge of the Departments of Administrative and Financial Affairs, Construction and Technical Works, Strategy Development, and Scientific Research Unit (BAP).
Prof. Mustafa Çiçekler
Born in Ladik, Konya in 1965, Prof. Çiçekler completed his primary education in Ladik and his secondary and high school education in Sarayönü İmam Hatip High School. In 1986, he graduated from the Department of Persian Language and Literature at Istanbul University and started to work as a Research Assistant in the same department. He earned his Master’s degree in 1989 and his PhD degree in 1994 at the Graduate School of Social Sciences. Having completed his military service in 1995, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Persian Language and Literature at Istanbul University the same year. He earned the title of Associate Professor in 2000 and the title of Professor in 2006. He acted as the Head of the same department from 2007 until 2011. He was appointed by the Council of Higher Education as the founding dean of IMU’s Faculty of Arts & Humanities in 2011. Currently, he is serving as the head of the Department of Eastern Languages and Literatures at the Faculty of Arts & Humanities at IMU. He is also a member of Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA) and is still serving as a Vice-Rector at Istanbul Medeniyet University.
Prof. Fahri Ovalı
Born in Istanbul in 1960, Prof. Fahri Ovalı graduated from Darüşşafaka High School and from the Faculty of Medicine at Istanbul University in 1985. Following his compulsory service period, he completed his pediatric residency in the same faculty from 1987 to 1991. He worked in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic at Istanbul University’s Faculty of Medicine between 1993 and 2003. He served in Minneapolis Children’s Hospital in US in 1995, a period during which he broke new grounds in neonatology in Turkey. He earned the title of Associate professor in 1996 and that of Professor in 2003. He served as the head of the Department of Pediatrics in the Faculty of Medicine of Afyon Kocatepe University from 2003 until 2005. In 2005, he was appointed first as the Clinic Chief and then as the Training Officer in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of İstanbul Zeynep Kamil Maternity and Children’s Research and Training Hospital, where he trained several minor specialists in pediatrics and neonatology. In 2015, he started to serve in Istanbul Medeniyet University.
Specializing in neonatology, Prof. Ovalı has authored more than 200 national and international publications on his specialty and both written and co-edited 10 reference books on neonatology. He also served in the organization and scientific boards for several national and international congresses and in the reviewer boards of many journals.
Still serving as the General Secretary of Turkish Neonatal Society and a Board Member of Maternal and Infant Health Foundation, Prof. Ovalı is well-versed in English and is married with two children.
