Our Faculty Speaks at Anglia Ruskin University in the UK


Istanbul Medeniyet University is outstanding internationally. Asst. Prof. Kurtuluş Açıksarı, M.D. of the Emergency Medicine Program at our Faculty of Medicine joined an international seminar at Anglia Ruskin University in the UK.

For more than 6 years, Dr Kurtulus Aciksari and Dr Nebil Achour, Senior Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University (UK), have been working together with partners from Japan and Italy on improving Turkey’s healthcare system. In their latest collaboration, Dr Aciksari delivered a speech to a multi-disciplinary audience during the international seminar “Healthcare Resilience to Major Disasters: Learning from the Past to Design a Better Future” organised by Dr Achour. The seminar brought together international speakers from multi-disciplinary backgrounds including earthquake engineering, disaster medicine, the ambulance service and international policy. They shared their recent research and lessons learnt from recent major events in Japan, Turkey and UK with research and professional fellows from medicine, engineering, management, policy makers and others. They discussed the resilience of critical infrastructure and lifeline, large service demand, and planning for major emergencies. Dr Achour stated: “It is great pleasure to continue working with Dr Aciksari and I hope that we can escalate this partnership to a higher status to benefit both our students, conduct high quality research that adds value to the academic and professional communities and society at large.” Dr Achour also stated that he and Dr Aciksari share the vision and interest to continue working together and strengthen their partnership further.
